The UV Couple

Got a letter from a married couple who had their second anniversary coming and wanted to make it a tradition to do a different photoshoot with a different photographer every year.
I saw it as a sweet way to celebrate love so I took some time to think of a cool way to shoot them and came up with this UV thing I had always wanted to try out.

I ordered some UV-sensitive paints and borrowed this big UV-light from a friend, which I thought would be more than enough but realized pretty quickly how difficult it was to work under black lights. There's almost no way to combine them with regular flashes, any kind of natural light kills the magic and you have a very limited set of angles to shoot the thing. It took some time to overcome those difficulties but the couple was understanding so it was fun, at least.

The tree on their backs is done by me, rest of the war paintings they did to themselves.
